Mandatory Disclosure
ShareMagnet.com is committed to an open relationship between our Sharers and Advertisers. The Sharers that engage in our sharing program are required to disclose this relationship in their communications with other consumers. Our platform is programmed to ensure disclosure, using system wide compliance standards.
We do this in order to comply with FTC regulations that state, “When there exists a connection between the endorser and the seller of the advertised product which might materially affect the weight or credibility of the endorsement (i.e., the connection is not reasonably expected by the audience) such connection must be fully disclosed.”
Freedom of Choice
Share Magnet will never auto-inject any Advertiser message into a Sharer’s social media stream. Sharers always have the ability to control the message. Magnet campaigns are never forced; Sharers are in control of what they choose to share.
Guidance for Sharers
It’s up to you, the Sharer, to pick the Magnets and Advertisers that best suit you and your network of friends and followers. If it doesn’t feel right, if you don’t own the product, or if you feel you can’t be 100% honest, we ask that you refrain from sharing. We strongly encourage you to only share Magnets that relate to you. Please alert us if an Advertiser ever suggests that you be dishonest in any way.
Guidance for Advertisers
When filling out the Magnet Short Description, we strongly recommended that you describe Magnets in a way that reflects details about your offering. Magnet Short Descriptions must not convey personal opinion or beliefs on behalf of the Sharer. You can’t suggest an endorsement or review in any way.
Acceptable Magnet Short Description:
"Example Business Grand Opening!!! We invite all interested in joining us for our grand opening celebration this Thursday!"
Unacceptable Magnet Short Description:
"I will be going to Example Business's Grand opening on Thursday, you should join me"
It is acceptable if a Sharer chooses to say they have purchased a product or had a favorable experience. However, this only applies when the Sharer writes this comment personally, it cannot be embedded by the advertiser in the short description meta information.
Anonymous Identity
Our marketplace is designed to be an open, safe place for our participants. We do not reveal the identities of Advertisers or Sharers, just their offerings and share performance. Both parties involved in a potential transaction have full control over their personal information and identity. The only information that is disclosed is the demographic information requested by the advertiser, and the demographic information supplied by the sharer.
Do I have to disclose?
Yes. Disclosure is an essential element of the Share Magnet platform, and we systematically guide all of our participants to disclose within each Share Comment. We understand that you want to make your share as enticing as possible, but it is unethical not to tell people that you are in a beneficial relationship with the advertiser is unethical. So when sharing, please use identifying hashes in your comments (#ad, #sponsored) so people are aware that while you may like what you are sharing, you are also benefiting. We require disclosure to protect you, your audience and the advertiser. Without disclosure, there is no honesty.
I am a Celebrity. Do I have to disclose?
Yes. Please see above. While we recognize that Celebrities don’t always disclose sponsorships, we are trying to set a new standard for disclosure in our platform. Everyone is required to disclose every time they write a Share comment, no exceptions.
What does disclosure look like?
Below we have provided some basic phrases to help facilitate disclosure. Sharers are encouraged to use any of the phrases they feel matches their share. A few examples of disclosure include:
“Today’s Share brought to you by BUSINESS Ex.″
“I would like to thank my sponsor, BUSINESS Ex”
